Music for Henleaze at Heart.

Lavinia Redman, a hugely talented 15-year-old oboist will be assisted by The Minerva String Quartet, together with Michael Johnstone (bassoon) and Derek Johnstone at the piano (sorry, no Jazz).

Four years ago, Lavinia, already a fine oboist, played in the Waterford Hall, astonishing everybody. She lives in Clevedon and is now at the famous specialist Purcell School near London. She has just reached the woodwind final of the BBC Young Musician competition, so you will know what standard to expect.

She will play two groups of solos and has asked to include part of the delightful Trio by Poulenc, which accounts for the extra performers. The quartet will play a wide variety of pieces from Bach to Beatles and Beyond, including recent wedding requests (and as any organist will tell you, such requests can be weird indeed!).

Admission free, refreshments at half—time and a collection for Henleaze at Heart.

Saturday 17 April 2010 at 7:30 pm.
