Become a Church member

Have you been thinking about becoming a Church member? If so, then you may be in one of three categories:

  1. You have been a member of another URC church, but not this one and would like to find out how you transfer your membership. In this case please contact Chris, our Church secretary for further information.
  2. You have been a member of a church of another domination eg Methodist, Baptist or Church of England and would like to find out what the differences are in our beliefs and practices. In this case please contact our minister, who will discuss the process with you.
  3. You have not made a commitment to the Christian faith before or you have not been confirmed or baptised in your faith. In this case please contact our minister. You will be invited to attend a membership class. In these classes you will learn and discuss, with other people, what it means to be a Christian and the fundamentals of Christian faith together with practices at our Church.

Jesus said that, 'his yoke was easy and his burden was light', so be reassured - there are not lots of rules and regulations with any of this.

Usually, once you have gone through the discussions or been to the classes and decided that this is the path for you, you will be invited to attend a morning service when new members are welcomed into the Church.

So, that's all there is to it!
